Make your photos come alive with twitter and SayTweet

You have a picture. It’s not that interesting. Of course, a picture is a lot better than a thousand words of text. But still, the picture isn’t up to the mark. You want to spice up the picture. Add a funny speech baloon or two. That’s fine, but then, it’s rather painful to keep adding a speech baloon every now and then, isn’t it?

Meet SayTweet. SayTweet makes the best use of your photo and your latest tweet.

SayTweet lets you upload a picture (or link to one available online), tag the people with the their twitter user ids, and creates a canvas - your original picture plus the latest twitter update in a speech bubble. Now the awesome part is that this picture is dynamic, and the speech bubble is updated to your latest update from twitter!

So what’re you waiting for? Headover to SayTweet, upload/choose a picture and create a canvas of your own!

Have Fun!

Cligs - New URL Shortening Site with Analytics

cligsCli.gs is a new URL shortening site that not only shortens your URL, but also provides detailed analytics about your “clig”.

Once you create an account, any future cligs you make will show up in your ‘My Cligs’ page where you can then see detailed stats of the clig like the referring sites. It will even show you references of your clig on social media sites like Twitter.

You have total control over your clig. You can give it a custom name, create a duplicate, or even delete it.

Text Sharing Sites - HG’s Picks

We need to share paragraphs or little pieces of text every now and then. Sometimes we Twitter, and sometimes 140 characters are just not enough. This is where a text sharing site comes into play.

We have made a small list of what we believe are the best text sharing sites today. From German to Indian, we have three sites that we think you might love. Take a look.

Text Save.de

text saveText Save is a German site that kind of looks Web2.0-ish, but really isn’t. It does what it is supposed to do pretty well, but does not present a hyperlink that can be easily copied. Instead, you have to manually select the text (URL) and copy it.

TinyPaste

One of the first text sharing sites that we came across. We Harmless Geek authors used it quite a lot, especially since we were new to Twitter and kept breaking the 140 char barrier. TinyPaste was popular among us, it provides a Firefox plugin and all, but that was before we came across its probable killer, and our primary text sharing site, Txtb.in.

TxtB.in

txtb.inTxtb.in is my personal favourite site, not because it’s Indian, not because a cool friend made it, but because it’s really simple to use and the finished URLs are clean and small. We absolutely LOVE it.

TwitterKeys - More Special Characters for you

Yesterday we wrote about Copy Paste Character.com, a site that lets you copy special characters to your clipboard with ease.

Today, I came across TwitterKeys, which basically does the same function as Copy Paste Character.com, but provides a lot more special characters. Again, this can be pretty useful on a site such as Twitter. =D

twitter_update

You need to double click the character, and then press Control + C. You can then paste the character on Twitter or any other site that supports UTF8.

Here’s the link.

Copy Paste Character - The Special Characters Site

Copying special characters is pretty easy on Windows. All you need to do is run Character Map from the Start menu. That brings up a window that contains hundreds of special characters, some of which, are pretty useless.

You could instead use Copy Paste Character.com, which is a simple site that does what it says - copies the special character that you select, and you can paste it anywhere, even on Twitter. It’s very easy to use too. Click on the character you want and it is automatically copied to the clipboard.

Host and share large files with File Savr

Sharing large files never got easier. Why bother yourselves with signing up, buying an upgrade and then renew it every month, when you can upload files up to 10GB for free!

File Savr is the simplest file sharing service we have come across yet. By offering 10GB for free, they are miles ahead of competitors like Media Fire who charge users for the same amount of space.

Their description of the service:

FileSavr’s goal is to simply the process of file hosting. We provide fastest and easiest file hosting service as an alternative to sites like MegaUpload and RapidShare. Unlike the other sites, we do not force users to sign up for paid accounts to download files, we do not show long countdown timers, pop up ads, or any other spam related activities.

The process of uploading a file is amazingly simple. You could start uploading files right from the home page. Hit the Upload button, select your file, and watch the status. It couldn’t be simpler than that.

However (damn it, there’s always a catch), the service does not state how long the files are kept after the last download. So your friend better have downloaded that 10GB file you uploaded last week, or it might be gone today!

Create a backup of your Twitter Timeline with Tweetake

We at Harmless Geek feel that this is a tool that every Twitter user should make use of. It’s _the_ Twitter tool, IHGO.

How does backing up the tweets of your followers, your friends, your favorites, your own tweets, or _everything_ sound to you? It sure as hell made us jump up and take notice.

Tweetake lets you take a backup of everything you ever did on Twitter (yes, including that very humiliating tweet you made last summer). It can even backup your private timeline (like mine), unlike many other Tweet Backup tools. It does so by using the Twitter API in conjunction with your username/password, and then provides you with a .CSV format of the backup.

Quite convenient, eh? We think so too! =)

Phrazit: Phrase Your Review

How would you like to share your opinions or thoughts about a subject in a phrase, and then track it and see what others are saying about the subject?

This is where Phrazit comes in. You can track your favorite topics and find out right away when someone “phrazes” them. You don’t even have to create an account to vote for your favorite phrase. You can also track your friends’ phrazes, provided you’re registered.

The home page shows random phrazes, so you can spend a lot of your time reading and preplanning about your next movie outing, or what to eat perhaps. =)

Give it a shot, try Phrazit. You just might like it.
